Mapping the Environmental Vulnerability of a Lagoon Using Fuzzy Logic and the AHP Method

Environmental vulnerability refers to the susceptibility of a region damage when it is subjected natural or anthropogenic actions. The assessment environmental in lakes an important tool assist managers planning and intervening for sustainable production preservation. combination geotechnologies, fuzzy logic analytic hierarchy process (AHP) has been applied by professionals researchers improve work research conducted various areas environments. In this context, objective was map lake its surroundings through AHP method. study area comprises Juparanã Lagoon Drainage Surface (JLDS), Espírito Santo state, Brazil. A survey physical characteristics watershed (drainage surface) that feeds carried out also land use surface. To achieve proposed objectives, following methodological steps were implemented: (a) delimitation watersheds, (b) spatialization Permanent Preservation Areas (APP) based on Brazilian Forestry Code (Law nº 12,651/2012), (c) application spatialize (d) evaluation (APP). modeled using Euclidean distance analysis, method, as Saaty (1977). For development work, geotechnologies used, with special emphasis free software QGIS. analysis revealed 31.20%, 32.86% 20.93% JLDS have very high, high medium vulnerability, respectively. APP showed there protection at rates 47.35%, 34.05% 14.5% classes, difficulties encountered related lack studies particular focus lagoons. Here, first time, we perform photointerpretation Lagoon. An improvement measure would be temporal assess dynamics over considering socioeconomic, climatic changes. This provide more complete understanding distribution area. methodology can adapted consider different scales from local regional, national global scales, scopes levels complexity.
